Snowspeeder from Star Wars

This is a 3D model I created in Maya a while ago. It is based on the Snowspeeder vehicles that feature in Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back.

It took a fairly long time to complete this model and I was experimenting with Mental Ray for the first time when I rendered the model.

I used a physical sun and sky lighting system for the final renders.

I also designed the interiors and cockpit of the aircraft. However I haven't textured the interiors well enough and so it looks a little bland. I will definitely open this model up again in Maya and put in a lot of more work into the interiors. For example, the screens and displays here in the cockpit can certainly do with a nice dusty, scratchy glass texture that is very reminiscent of the rough and rugged style of Star Wars.

Here is a picture of the throttle. Here also I can add
some details such as markings for the throttle gauge.
The seat could also do with a nice leather texture or cotton texture.

Here is a picture of the throttle from a different angle. I like the shadows created by the physical sun and sky based lighting of Mental Ray.
This is a picture of the co-pilot's area.

And this is what the co-pilot's cockpit looks like. The large control stick is what is used to deploy the harpoon tow cable, which is famous in the film for entangling the legs of the AT-AT, and leading to its fiery destruction.

This is a shot of the harpoon gun located at the rear of the Snowspeeder.
